Support Young Lives as a Nurturing & Compassionate Support Worker
At Homes for Support, we provide a warm, welcoming, and safe space for vulnerable children and young people. Since 2019, we’ve been dedicated to offering high-quality care through our three key services: OFSTED-registered Residential Children's Homes (therapeutic care for ages 5-18), Supported Accommodation (for ages 16-18), and community outreach. Every child deserves a secure, caring environment where they can grow and thrive. If you have a natural ability to support and guide young people through life’s challenges, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in creating a nurturing and family-oriented environment. This role is all about building meaningful relationships and ensuring children feel valued and understood. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing Holistic Care & Emotional Support – Be a calming presence, offering reassurance and guidance to young people in your care.
- Encouraging Growth & Independence – Support children in learning essential life skills, such as cooking, self-care, and managing emotions, in a patient and supportive manner.
- Building Strong Bonds – Create meaningful, trusting relationships with children, helping them feel secure and understood.
- Working as a Team – Collaborate closely with colleagues to maintain a caring and structured environment where children feel safe and supported.
- Attending Important Appointments – Accompany children to school runs, professional meetings, health check-ups, and family visits to ensure they receive the support they need.
- Organising Fun & Engaging Activities – Participate in a variety of experiences such as swimming, creative arts, soft-play, outdoor adventures, sensory activities, and special outings to encourage confidence and social engagement.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for compassionate, patient, and understanding individuals who truly care about making a difference in young people’s lives. The ideal candidate will:
- Have a nurturing and empathetic approach, creating a safe and supportive atmosphere for children.
- Be a great listener, helping young people express their thoughts and emotions in a positive way.
- Work collaboratively within a team, bringing warmth, kindness, and reliability to every shift.
- Be committed to learning and growing in the role, with opportunities to gain recognised qualifications.
